Abstract

Being an important oilseed crop, groundnut offers numerous benefits in terms of monetary and health but the management of destructive diseases is one of the most important challenges faced by groundnut growers in India now-a-days under changing climatic conditions. More than 55 pathogens including viruses have been reported to affect groundnut yields and quality of the produce. So, the sound knowledge of the major diseases of groundnut, its occurrence, distribution, diagnostic symptoms, extends of losses and their epidemiology is needy to formulate. So, accordingly the eco friendly disease management approaches like host plant resistance, cultural methods, use of botanicals, biological control, chemical methods and biotechnological approaches are recommended for different regions.
